GAEA

Gliding arms of modern clocks

Passing by, as man marches on.

Reaching out in a desperate thirst, that

Jewels and power can quench alone.

Like a deep fault, they had burrowed into Her

Slashing their ways through vines and trees.

Feeding on witnesses, and camping nearby

And, shamelessly, called it Home.

Like a cancer, the thirst grew to lust

Until it had to be fought and conquered for;

Chasing the crown over a burning Earth

Ashes rose, a remembrance of the cost.

She had been asleep for far too long, 

Until the tremors awoke her from dormancy.

The prophesized time has come

She decided, and opened her celestic eyes.

The gliding arms of clocks now stopped

Even Chronos stepped aside in fright!

The Earth split in two and from within rose

Mother Gaea from slumber, in all her might.

Massive mountains rumbled at the touch of

Her Arms, and rivers and streams flowed

Across her divine breasts. Her hair was gold

And silver, and glistened like the stars.

And her eyes were the colours of the world

And deep as entire galaxies, 

She stared right into herself and the consequence

Of millenia of humanity's toxic reign.

Their sand and stone castles shall fall!

The impenetrable forts be breached!

Reckoning without cause shall subside!

Gaea's cry rumbled across the realms.

Gaea raised her arms and wailed, so vociferously

That the Earth silently obeyed. 

Mountains shifted and volcanoes erupted

And entire continents began drifting apart.

Oceans moved and made way for land

To move around as per Her command

Earthquakes and landslides and floods

Muted the cries of the life within.

Landmasses collided against themselves

And topological conditions changed;

There emerged new peaks, and rivers

And new signs of budding life.

All was well, till the greed took over

And Humanity lost their way

Gaea, now answering her destiny

Again, began dozing away...
